Progress in the CD packaging.

Here are some of the elements and stuff done so far.

I plan to use a typographic solution to illustrate the different music styles that the band explores and experiments throughout all their albums.

Have been trouble building the box of the packaging, completely miscalculated the measurements so I wasted lots of parts of the wood I was planning to use for it. Fortunately I found some scraps and some other materials to use. I will give it another try tonight.

5 good, 5 bad

Finding 5 good and 5 bad products. Wasn't easy, but took the opportunity of looking at really interesting products at the asian market, some products from office max and finally my house.

I had trouble deciding what product design could be considered bad. It was easier for me to decide which ones were good because they appealed to me and seemed functional. Finally, I thought that if they were good designed, I would be able to easily understand what the product was even if I couldn't read in a different language.

The good ones:

1g.Japanese Cookies

2g.Pollock Roe.

3g.Korean Rice Wine. Loved the way the bottle looks, gives it an authenticity guaranteed look.

4g.Rice vinegar.

5g.Kids coloring kit.

The Bad ones:

1b. Korean cookies. Thought they could have had a better package to protect the cookies from getting smashed.

2b. Some kind of cereal. Wasn't able to tell what this is, and thought that label could have been bigger.

3b. Paper clips. Thought there was too much package for some clips

4b. Headphones. too much paper and plastic to cover those little headphones... There has to be a better solution...

5b. Grasshopers. Mom brought me this for my birthday, they are delicious, but the package never convinces anyone.

About

My name is Victor Zuniga, Senior at Cal State Northridge. I started drawing from an early age, but began taking art seriously when in high school. When I graduated and came to CSUN I started off as a business major. I didn’t know graphic design existed as a career until I met a person that explained what it was about. That was my introduction to Graphic design.

I have goals and aspirations of working for a design studio either in the US or any country in Latin America or Europe.
